A Houndstooth Beauty!

I have been busy working on a fitted skirt, using a pattern I first used here.  I'm not sure what pattern it came from, but it had four darts in the front (two per side) and four in the back (again, two per side).  It is a straightforward pattern, centre back seam with an invisible zip.

Lots more details and photos over on my blog!

Pretty Pink Top

Today was "Pink Sunday" at church. I made this top (Simplicity 7084) with some fabric I had in my stash. It feels like a light weight crepe. Full pattern review can be found on my blog at http://mycreativeeclecticlife.blogspot.com/

Lesson learned from this top...getting a little better at finishing necklines.

Roksanda Ilincic Inspired Dress

I thought that I would try a designer 'inspiration' dress, and I have been a fan of the color blocking of Roksanda Ilinicic.  I particularly liked this $1600 wool dress:

And thought I would give it a try . . . .

I know that the back is a little wrinkly, but I am rather pleased with this dress.  I think that I may well be making a number of others!!

Urgh, I give up.  I have no idea why Blogger keeps adding extra lines in between photos they don't show up on my draft, and it drives me nuts :(

Edit - thanks L, looks as though I had a few of those pesky < / b r > floating around.  I deleted them, and now everything is in line.  You have no idea how much time this will save me!!!

A Knit Skirt from the Stash

I fell in love with the idea of this skirt when  Sheila of Sheila-CTK posted this picture in early September.
The picture started me thinking about a yard of fabric that I had left over from this dress that I made back in August
 I decided to use
McCall's 6654 knit pencil skirt pattern that I tried last fall with good success. I underlined the pattern pieces (there were only two) by hand basting tricot down the center and the side seams to give the fabric a little more body.  It took me two nights to hand stitch the pressed open side seams because I didn't want them flapping around and bunching up after washing.
I wanted to emphasize the fabrics pretty turquoise stripe and was able to do so with this twin set in the exact color.  I couldn't decide on the skirt length, but went ahead and put it at mid calf because you know I plan on wearing it with boots.  I figure if this lengths not right - I can always cut if off shorter.
I may or may not wear this belted (or I might try a thinner belt) -  I just wanted to see how it looked. I owe my inspiration for the skirt to Sheila.

HEY LADIES

Hi Ladies,

I've missed you all so much! Though I haven't had time to post or respond to the lovely posts that you guys have continued to display, I have noticed that you've been working hard on your wardrobes and they all look fabulous! I am trying to get back in the grove of things so I'll do my best to be in contact with you all more often.

OAN: Its been over six months since we've started this challenge and I have not had one urge to go shopping!!! I don't know if that was due to the help of the government shutdown (I'm not getting paid, I'm not buying) or not but hey, the important thing is I didn't have an urge. lol.

How about you all? Have you had any urges? Or did some of you go and find some things you absolutely couldn't resist? Hey, I think we are only human right? Can be really hard to resist....especially if you get to travel to Australia and New Zealand.:) Kudos to Two Toast for only purchasing a T-shirt!!! Just picking ladies, you are all doing so great! Keep up the good work!

Anyway, I'm happy to be back and will be showing a few things that I've managed to sqeeeeeeeeze in some time to create (M6317 and V8870). I've already posted the two dresses below on my blog and you can go check it out when you get a chance.

Products of taking pictures on the go!!!!

Summer Sewing

Greetings divas!

I know its been a while since my last post but I have been sewing, really I have. I will attribute my absence to a very busy summer which included a wonderful vacation to Niagara Falls and training for my first ½ marathon. With summer being officially behind us I’m getting really excited about some of the fall projects I have planned. But before I get on a tangent about my fall sewing plans let me show you what I’ve worked on since my last post.
Please visit my blog for a review of these projects http://redsthreadz.blogspot.com/
Happy sewing, divas.

October Sewing Projects

I have three skirts in progress, well actually two since I finished this one last Friday.  I just need to hem the other two and put in the zippers.

This is M3830, skirt #2 of my skirt a week challenge (that I am a few weeks behind on).  Here is a close-up of the fabric (purchased about a month ago from Fabric Mart).

It's the black in the middle.  The other two fabrics will eventually become skirts too.  The top is view B from McCalls 6519 and is a slinky knit I purchased from Hancocks.  It was left over from V1250 that I made a couple of weeks ago.  I need to fix the dimple that is in the side dart and hem it.  I plan on putting a rolled hem on it when I get my serger.

OK YOU ASKED FOR IT! LOL!

ok so I put the dress on lol , sorry no head shots, we've been digging through sweet potatoes all day & my face is a little red & bad bad hair day lol , the dress is not finished around the neck nor hemed & I doubt it will get to that point, because I don't see myself wearing it, I love the fabric, but the length is not my style, the words "make a muslin" comes to mind ,so there you have it! my little mini moo moo dress!lol!

Confession Time

I have a confession to make . . . . . I have just come back from a fabulous holiday in Australia & New Zealand, and I succumbed to purchasing a T-Shirt . . . . it was just too cute and will remind me of walking barefoot on the beach on Waiheke Island, NZ.

So here is a picture of me on holiday wearing Me Made clothes (and being photo-bombed by Ayers Rock) - does that make it any better?!!!

I am wearing a linen skirt and top from Singer Perfect Plus.  I mixed and matched a number of Me Made clothes with just a few RTW items, and I had a huge amount of combinations to wear :)

Read more on my blog!

PS.  Am I forgiven?
